These, not the Canadas, are the true icons of migration. There are no resident populations in the lower U.S.. Every bird is a piece of the Arctic. Juvenile White-fronts, such as these first 4, turn up in the darnedest places, completely unafraid and unaware of the potential dangers. They act as though they have never seen a human. And perhaps they never have. Both White-fronts and Snows are only incidental to the Willamette Valley. Until I can get down to the Klamath basin....
