IS the shape of the rod absolutely static through the entire rotation of the rod? No, and that change in shape, caused by a changing angle to the mass can be easily demonstrated by pictures just before and just after the above picture. But it’s mechanical function is stable and it’s range of shape-change is small so it can be modeled with a high degree of accuracy and validity as a static, rigid shape. That shape can be modeled as the familiar throwing stick or ball thrower and leads us into discussing the rod function, in this phase, as a lever system.

But, since rods vary dramatically in a wide range of characteristics, how are those differences accounted for if Force, Mass, and Acceleration are constant?
