Capt. Bill Cooling and his final season on Pleasant Bay
This is Capt. Bill Cooling's final season of guiding on Cape Cod. Unless he changes his mind, that is. And, considering our ignored pleas, that is unlikely. He is relocating to Stuart, Florida. Perpetual sunshine. Perpetual fishing. Goodby winter. Hey Bill, HELLO HURRICANES!

Fishing with Capt. Bill was always a study in contrasts. The tallest, biggest guide on the Cape in the smallest boat (a unique, out of production Beavertail Skiff), running in the shallowest water in the smallest venue, Pleasant Bay. But Pleasant Bay has it's secrets....and Bill knows all of them. The other paradox is that, with two new "plumbing" changes giving the Bay a considerable shot of fresh ocean water with each tidal surge, the once stagnant Bay is now visited by a considerble population of fish, BIG fish.

The final important fact is that Pleasant Bay is more protected, has more lee, structure, and places to hide than any other location on the Cape. For all our wind and weather problems elsewhere, Capt. Bill gave us a solid five out of five days, as he did last year. On this day the sun never came out during the tide levels when we could have sight fished. So we did the next best thing, caught lots of fish blind casting out of Bill's private hidey-holes.
