Tygh Ridge, Valley, and Oak Springs Hatchery Lookout
Travelling south from The Dalles to Maupin on "The Dalles - California Highway" (now 197 - 97) is one of the most interesting and scenic drives in Oregon. The road climbs continuously until it peaks out on Tygh Ridge at nearly 3000 feet, then drops down into picture perfect Tygh Valley, which itself drops precipitously (White River Falls) into the Deschutes canyon to the river itself. Tygh Valley is a magical verdant green between the arid desert that frames it. Everything is in extremes. These are multi-shot, high resolution panoramas suitable for murals.
