from within Tacoma itself, or by direct competition for those board seats when they come up in the election cycle. There are, these days, organized, responsible, and active recreational groups for everything from fly fishing to kayaking to bird watching, not to mention the serious ecological lobby. It is only through mobilized, organized, responsible pressure through groups such as these that the TWD might be persuaded to re-assess it’s management strategy. What is MY stake in all this? Directly? Nothing. Other than a distant fantasy of re-visiting the stretch of river which was so important and valuable to my development at age 16, and should be similarly available to others. I am just keeping faith with a river and it’s fishery. Peter Patricelli
