The Hayden Bridge Rapids, at the top of the picture, are dear to my heart as I nearly swam through them one day wearing waders when I went in after my sled that had drifted off the bar we had stopped to fish from. An overhanging branch caught the boat and slowed it, otherwise I would have. That earned me the Dave Carlson Boatman of the Year award from the McKenzie Flyfishers, an award I have not coveted, before, then, or since.
