| The Columbia basalt flows that define the entire Columbia plateau have beeen eroded by the Columbia River itself as the lowest point. Every river coming off the plateau must/will similarly cut through the basalt to get to the Columbia. This is the Klickitat's version. In places the width is only 4 feet, and I assume 30-50 feet deep. Indians still swing dip nets through these slots to catch upcoming fall chinook. | ||||||||||||||
