This is the Mentawaiian (Indonesia) canoe paddle which Eddy carried onto the airplane since in Indonesia they knew what it was. In the Moscow airport they seized him and kept him in seclusion for hours trying to get him to give up taking the paddle further, which he refused. Eventually he was released, forced to check the paddle, and escorted onto the airplane to Houston by 4 armed guards. Go figure.
