IF friction were infinite what are the directions (as vectors) I am pulling on the rod? THAT depends on the position of the line hand with respect to the line of rotation created by a line running down the rod from the guide through the rod hand pivot point. We can only demonstrate in 2 planes. I will draw the pivot line and look for the position of my line hand. See figure 12:
