Glen Canyon Dam, which is solely responsible for the clear, cold water and the resulting fishery. Behind the dam is Lake Powell which backs up nearly 200 miles and has flooded Glen Canyon and many other natural wonders (forever,??) By a slight miscalculation, the water backed up into the sandstone in this climate has resulted in a loss of 30% of the river flow to evaporation. Oops!
